Bluesman seeks secure SF future

Blues and Solution Focus may seem a paradoxical combination of interests/obsessions, but that's mainly because the vast majority of people misunderstand what Blues music is about.

Blues concerns sadness and misery, grief and loss, and yet is all about recovery from the dark times and aspiration towards something better.

It's about coping, resources, exceptions, and given the number of train journeys and railway metaphors....scaling. Compliments also feature large (although they usually have a poorly hidden sexual component!). I'm also never quite sure how to categorise songs like 'My Next Ex-Wife' in SF terms...

The music is uplifting, it links closely to Gospel music, with themes of redemption and ascension to a higher state of being. That's why it works for me in conjunction with SF, it's about progress, but it's also maverick, unconventional, and even 100 years after it's inception it is still subversive, viral, but massively influential.

I hope SF stays like that, too.

Hi Martin

Re that young comic artist...... I've been asking around (one of my daughters studied graphic design) and it was my boss, Amanda Mozley, who reminded me that she is related to James Parsons. Do you know him - he did some amusing stuff on Bush a while back? Might be able to help or point you in the right direction: www.crazycomicclub.co.uk or info@crazycomicclub.co.uk

ps One of the first LPs I ever bought was John Mayall 'Beyond the turning point'. Still got it. 1970 I think.

Cheers Martin, I've used ableton live a few times, reason 4 also but mainly use hardware mainly built by korg, I mix in guitar and synths.

We tend to improvise the sets so we have to use a few crib sheets to sound like we know what we're doing!

Nice tunes on here, loving the bluesy feel!

Hi Martin, good to meet up here! I'm so pleased you remember that conversation we had ages ago about you taking forward some of your (yet more!) creative talents.... Am enjoying your music as I write this.

In that case you need to watch 'Black Snake Moan' - if you haven't already! A very misunderstood film if you don't understand the blues.

Hi Folks, the jpegs here are the same as the ones in the resources section of the UKASFP main site. They're for anyone to use in any way that works for them. A brief credit would be nice, thanks.

The other stuff is just self-indulgence.....one of my talents.

Enjoy,

Martin
