SFA wiki development

I'm looking at ways to generate an SFA wiki page that I feel is currently needed online. This will look at solution focused approaches in other contexts outside therapy.

I have been interested in setting up an openspace approach to get it started. The openspace approach focuses on collaboration and a beginner's mind approach to allow everyone to develop the end result.

To arrange an openspace we would need at least 5 passionate solution focused people, some real and virtual space to allow others to collaborate. A time and setting can be worked out later. I will sort out any tech issues and these shall be minimal to allow a creative approach.

The idea is to have no agenda apart from a blank wiki page to develop, through conversation, break out sessions, file sharing and group editing. The openspace can last a few hours however may need to have some limitations to time.

Please reply if you are interested, I know we have already had a few people showing interest in the wiki development and I hope this approach allows them to get involved.

I promise this to be fun and informative, it will be a great way to develop new ways of collaboration too.

Ok cheers Eileen, as long as you can access the internet that will be a great start.

I hope to use skype, email, etherpad and of course wikipedia.

I will provide links to the etherpad area, which does not require any logins or downloading to use.

I can support you in setting up skype in the meantime, if you require support that is.

Great to have you on board!

Carl, I would like to be involved in this and think I will now still be in UK on 31st July. I know its a pain but could you let me know what to do (and how to do it!) and I will take this day out of my diary to be available. I do realise that everyone else is probably well equipped but to tell the truth I am just coming to terms with the wireless radio..........
Thanks for any signposting or help you can give so that I can be ready for the due date.
kind regards as ever
Eileen

This one off project has a number of useful purposes. We (somefolks from the UKASFP community) have chosen to focus on developing a Solution Focused Practice (or SF approaches) wikipedia page. the reason for this is that although wikipedia may not be an ideal research tool, it does provide a useful starting point for anyone curious about SFA.

The SFBT wiki page is currently number one on a google search (out of 43 million hits) when using the words 'solution focused' however this wikipage does not accurately reflect the usefulness of the approach in many other areas.

Therefore, we now have an opportunity to make a huge and significant difference by developing a wikipedia page based on relevant and valid information and also developed from the ground upwards.

We have arranged for a number of passionate solution focused people across the Globe to meet both in person and virtually on the 31st July to develop the wikipedia page.

We will be using some 'open space technology' principles, which equates to, whoever turns up on the day must be the right people, whenever we start must be the right time, when it finishes on the day (but before 4pm!) must be the right time.

We also hope and expect people to join in the project during the day, some people may have a little more time to contribute than others, this is absolutely fine, we welcome all visitors.

So, what can this project offer, for anybody who has a little spare time during the 31st July 10am to 4pm?

Well we hope the project will allow discussions around what SF practice is and what it means to be solution focused, the project will welcome all contributions, therefore each small contribution making a difference on a global scale. Also, because we are using ideas based on open space technologies these may be of unique interest to people organising projects or groups, we can explore this further.

best wishes

Ok thank you to the first few who have mentioned the wiki project.

It sounds like the 31st July could be the better option, I'll wait a couple more days just to see who else is interested and available (I'll contact the SOLworld community to invite folk from there).

Which ever day we decide on my thoughts were we work on the project between 10am and 4pm, I will provide the links to the virtual meeting place (no downloads or tech trickery needed and telephone support available by me).

What I would like in preparation is a range of ideas and content people would consider important on a solution focused practice wikipedia page, my focus will be on working with the wiki community to allow us to get the page accepted.

Hello, I'm hoping we can organise a date sometime in late July where we can meet virtually (and for some in person) to look at developing the wikipedia page on solution focused (practice/approaches).

I feel this project has become more important since the recent press interest and their use of wikipedia to get first impressions of what SF is.

I will be booking a day off work to set up the open space and so I need to know which days would be better for the group?

The plan for the day would focus around an initial blank document into which we will develop an agenda for the day and then break into smaller focus groups based on topics we need to cover; however this is open to creativity on the day.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I'm hoping to look at July or August for the wiki project to go ahead, we have a few interested so far, it would be useful to use this group to gather beforehand
